ive students from the MFA in Television Production Program were nominated for the 2017 College Television Awards, also known as the Student Emmys. Widely recognized as the most prestigious student award in television production, these awards are given by the Television Academy to student work in a variety of television categories.
Students Michael Irgang, Kevin Keating, Sally Lomidze, Amina Nada, and Michael Zhonga were nominated in the Variety Television category for their original live television series Brooklyn’s Best. Featuring talented up-and-coming singers, dancers, artists, comedians and other Brooklyn based performers, Brooklyn’s Best was written, produced and directed as part of the group’s thesis work. While they did not win the Emmy, they were flown to Los Angeles and treated to three days of workshops and networking seminars, culminating with a black-tie awards ceremony attended by hundreds of other nationally recognized student television makers and dozens of industry actors, writers, and producers.
In addition, students will have the opportunity to take a 3-day side trip to Tokyo. Students will not only explore the diversity of South Korea but also be able to document and create a story of their experience. Not only does this program allow for practice in production skills, but it also emphasizes the importance of an international view and builds a foundation for long-lasting connections and friendships.Read More Department News
